Chapter 2: Rightful Place

Vladimir

The floor was a sea of blood with no end. Its crimson color shined thick in the light from the chandlers. There in the middle of floor stood Elaine draining the last drop from the last human in the room. Her dress was splattered with blood; the bloody hand prints lay on her skin where many victims tried to push her away unsuccessfully. Her once neat, put together hair clumped together on her shoulders, her lips quivered underneath the thick crimson, and her unwavering eyes stared blank ahead. She had done it. She had managed to kill everyone, every single last human. The room once again was silent and motionless. Elaine's eyes traced over the room taking in the massacre at this masquerade. Taking a deep breath Elaine asked "Well my king how was it?" Moving closer to the king she begins again "Did it make you tremble in your seat? Did it anger you?" Staring him straight in the eye she paused for a moment.  "Did you love it?" she yelled in a mocking tone.

In a fit of rage Vladimir pounded his fist down on his golden arm rest and screamed "Shut up you stupid Bitch!" If he were human his face would be flushed with rage from the way he yelled. In one fast swoop he was out of his chair and pining Elaine to the wall by her neck. Vampires don't need to breath but this was more of a threat to break her neck than to choke her. As old as he is the strength he has obtained over the years is beyond belief and in a twitch of his finger any neck would break but Elaine isn't and never was a normal vampire. Since the day she was born she's been drinking a werewolf's blood, making her ten times as strong, eye sight sharper than any other, and her speed unbelievable. Unlucky for Vladimir that he was Elaine's target. With what seemed like the speed of light she ripped his muscled hand from her throat and of his wrist. The hand flopped to the floor making a strange splash sound as it hit the puddle of blood. It twitched once then laid still.

His roar ripped through the room echoing all around. With his other hand he grips her arm tightly dragging her to the main door. "Guards, Guards take her to the castle's prison cell where she will wait for her trial!" he spit in her face. When the guards made their way over Vlad chucked the girl over to them in rough manner. A quick scoff at the bloody girl in the guards arm, he turn fast on his heel and stomped his leather boots up the golden stair case. Up the stairs and through the door he left the blood filled ball with a clean, calm stride. Ignoring his carriage he headed for the town. His snow white hair floated in wind, his pitch black eyes glared far ahead as if seeing something no one could see, and the town's people stopped and stared. One brave man crossed Vladimir's path at the wrong time. He was older, maybe late 40's and was getting some white hair here and there. He was a short man for average. "Everyone look it's the king! It's the king" yelled the man in excitement. The king's gaze lowered to the man's and his cry's softened until he finally stopped. Vladimir shoved past the man continuing to the castle.

The castle was magnificent. It had a gargoyle on every ledge, a tower that loomed over the rest of the castle, and a large cross at the very tip of the tower. Vlad made a sigh of relief as he passed though the threshold. The inside was just as amazing as the outside. A red carpet ran down the entry way to the main part of the castles. At the end of the entry way hall stood his butler. His blonde hair was slicked back, pale blue eyes motionless, and his face blank. He had on a black suit with a red under shirt and a red rose pinned to his jacket's pocket. In his hand was a silver platter with a single wine glass half full of blood. "Blood your majesty?" his voice was emotionless. Vlad never turned down a good glass of blood. As he walked past he grabbed the glass and pushed through the doors leading to his thrown. Three maids in black came rushing up to him. They took of his black pinstriped coat, wiped the blood from his mouth, and held his glass as he sat. To his right, stood a man of great power and strength. His name is Nicholas, and he went over whatever the king wanted to make sure they would profit from it and maybe help the town's people. Nicholas is not a man to mess with. He is about as old as the king, maybe even older. His piercing grey eyes see everything. There are no hiding things with and to his left is his mistress of the moment. Katherine. Her fiery red curly mixed with her emerald eyes are not match for any woman. She unlike Nicholas is a human but still unstoppable. Even with her prefect looks she can hold her own a fight. Even with a vampire.

Katherine went to her knees beside the king and spoke "How was the ball?" Angered by the question and the flashes of the night he slapped Katherine in the face sending her a couple feet back and on the ground. She had been hit by him before and had the bruises to prove it. Even with the cuts bruises she always came running back like a love sick puppy. Picking herself up she made her way back to Vladimir crying at his knees "I'm sorry, I'm sorry forgive me?" Waving her away he beckoned for the maids to come to him. Elaine's trail would soon begin and he wanted a little chat with her beforehand. After minutes of waiting, the grand doors that lead to the thrown slammed and Elaine strode up the middle of room with powerful elegants. Mockingly she says "Did you call for me?" The king looked over her for a moment or two before standing up and circling her. "Well your quiet pretty. If only you stay quiet." A scoff came from behind Vladimir. It was Katherine. She was the type to always state her anything that crosses her mind. Walking away from her post by the king's thrown she latched onto his arm, almost making it seem like it was her territory. "Pretty? Her?  Really? That's not the words I'd use to describe her." With her horrid laugh she continued on "If anyone's pretty it's me!" Shaking her off his arm he began to circle Elaine again looking closer.

Her crimson eyes followed him as he circled her. "Well if you like looking so much why we don't make it so you can look at me every day." He paused a little confused at what she was implying. The king was a smart man but wasn't the best with women. Finishing his circle he faced her with a questioning look in his eyes. Taking the opening to win him over she begins "I'm just saying that I have a lot to offer. I mean you saw with your own eyes how strong I am." Elaine wrapped her arm around his waist and lifted herself right up to his ear. He could feel her breath on his ear as said "No vampire in the world would be able to stop you." Vladimir ripped her away from him at arms distance but still close enough that if he whispered she could hear him clearly. The room was silent and they only stared into each other's eyes. It was almost like they were looking at each other's souls to make sure all the truth was said. "Fine, I'll think about this but for the mean time stay in Katherine's room." With one of Katherine's famous stomps she grabbed Elaine's arm pulling her from the room. Looking behind her she waved good bye to the king "See you my king." And with a wink she was out the door and out of sight.
okay so this is the second chapter to forever night. I must admit that the writing in this isn't very good. I was kind of in a writer's slump when I wrote this but hey I'm out and I'm ready to write some more! I hope everyone enjoys it.
